The PlayNow Foodtruck Wars Street Festival is pleased to announce that the ZERO WASTE initiative that was started in 2018 will continue to be one of the main focuses of all our future festivals.
PlayNow Foodtruck Wars is excited that the Affinity Credit Union returns as the festival’s Zero Waste title sponsor.
Our food vendors & street market vendors are all on board with our waste reduction policies that we have instituted for our festival. Together, we are going to accomplish our goal of Zero Waste.
There is a total ban on: Styrofoam, tin foil, plastic straws, plastic utensils, plastic stir sticks, & single use condiment packages. All food serving wares should be either compostable or recyclable. The indiscriminate distribution of ad fliers is not permitted.
At the festival’s information booth, attendees will be encouraged to donate paper, cloth & plastic bags for re-usage. Any vendors or festival goers can visit our information booth to take a bag for re-use. We will also be collecting used eyeglasses at the information booth in support of the Saskatoon & District Lions Clubs – Recycle For Sight Program.
As a festival visitor, you can help us to achieve our Zero Waste goals by depositing your solid waste in the applicable, identified collection bins. There will be Affinity Credit Union volunteers on hand to help with coordinating the collection bins.
In 2019, the festival diverted over 93% of the waste generated away from the city landfill through recycling and composting efforts. Just over 6% of the waste ended up at the landfill.
We thank everyone involved with and everyone visiting PlayNow Foodtruck Wars in helping to reduce waste which in turn helps to protect our environment.
